What is the Wassookeag Learning Community?

The Wassookeag Learning Center is a place where educators, students, and families work together to create a progressive and nurturing learning environment.  We are a secular, non-profit education community providing educational programs, homeschooling groups, resources, and enrichment for families in the greater Orono and Bangor areas. What Makes Us Unique?

Wassookeag believes in the importance of fostering a lifelong love of learning.  We support this ideal by facilitating and honoring the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of children.

We provide:

  • academic support for individual interests
  • multi-age classes
  • a variety of enrichment classes
  • homeschool education groups
  • educational field trips
  • individual tutoring
  • afterschool homework assistance
  • flexible scheduling
  • Educational opportunities through the University of Maine, Orono Public Library, Orono Land trust, and more

We support the Whole Child philosophy of learning, keeping children engaged, challenged, safe, supported, and healthy.
